I cover science, technology, and health news.

I regularly cover issues surrounding Alzheimer’s and dementia for Being Patient —covering complicated science issues without overhyping the research. I use the skills I gained during my MSc in neuroscience to dig beyond the surface of new research studies. I’ve had conversations with dozens of researchers, patients, and clinicians. This has helped me focus on reporting what new research results, drug trials, and policy changes mean for patients. I have also been at the forefront of debunking harmful health trends and misleading headlines. In other outlets, I’ve done deep dives on everything from anxiety vaccines to psychedelics.
I’ve also been covering Long-COVID, chronic illness, disability, and news surrounding medical assistance in dying (MAID) in Canada. My work, which was published in The Guardian’s Scientific Observer about patient-led clinical trials, garnered positive feedback from many people with ME/CFS and Long-COVID who finally felt their diseases were being covered accurately. Some doctors have even used my article as a reference. My coverage on MAID has helped one woman raise enough money to fund a few more months of essential treatment. I am continuing to write about the space and am always open to chatting with people living with Long-COVID, ME/CFS, or other complex chronic illnesses.
I also provide critical coverage of the tech space, highlighting the racial biases and inequities of artificial intelligence and chatbots across medicine and education. I am also a collaborator on a recent research article about the topic published in a high-profile scientific journal called npj Digital Medicine. I was also the first to break the news that Max Hodak, a co-founder of Neuralink, had raised $47 million in stealth mode on his new startup company. Later, I interviewed him for Futurism about his new neurotechnology company.
In addition to journalism, I am passionate about mental health. I am the co-founder of Resolvve Inc, a low-cost therapy clinic for students living in Canada.
I also use my scientific expertise and award-winning science communication skills to train budding scientists and organizations, consult with companies about their scientific content, and have written copy for companies and non-profits including Seed and the Canadian Digestive Health Foundation.
